I love this category because I love making the environment around me beautiful! I mean, I love each one of my categories, but this one hits in a way that’s particularly deep and meaningful to me.

Now, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so I want to honor that. On these weeks, I will be sharing my style of decor, styling, philosophy, display and general ordering of the visuals of home.

I would say that my style is classic yet leaning to the traditional side of the spectrum. I’m not afraid of color and I do love patterns. I love to surround myself with books, vintage items and antiques collected over generations, curios, and pretty, sparkly objects.

I am not a minimalist. I do not want to be a minimalist. I like my stuff and I want to keep it.

I’m also not a true maximalist. I like order, organization and meaningful displays. I achieve this by being patient while collecting my treasures. I don’t mind if it takes years. Life is a journey and so should decorating your home!

I DO describe myself as a middlemalist. You’ve heard it here first, friends!

I’m in the middle, smack dab in between minimalism and maximalism. And I’ve created a method to answer this problem for others who share my inclinations. But, more of that to come, so stay tuned!

Much like one’s personal style, tastes and how we present ourselves to the world through what we wear, how we do our hair and makeup, I believe that our home style conveys our personality to the world, too. However, it’s a much more intimate reflection because, unless you’re a blogger who writes about homemaking, you don’t invite the whole world into your home like how you go out into it.

Even if you feel like you need to present a certain side of yourself when you go out into the world, say to a corporate job, your home style can remain the truest piece of who you are and how you identify.

When I was in corporate America, I presented a certain part of myself. And when I came home, I could relax into the sanctuary I created and just be. And not that I was aggressively different than how I presented myself out there, but definitely more relaxed and softer.

And so, that’s why, to me, nurturing my home style with the furnishings, collections, cherished family heirlooms, order and routine is so incredibly important. To me, it’s the home environment that is life-giving to my introverted soul.

Do you feel the same?

I’m happy you came to visit! I hope this has inspired you to take another look at your own home style!

Until next time, I’ll keep the cushions fluffed and the kettle ready!

Happy homemaking, friends!
